My Divine Housekeeper
BRD REFLECTION 2025
Psalm 123 and Revelation 3 (NIV)
(Jesudas Menon from Small Group Ministry)
READ:
Psalm 123 and Revelation 3 (NASB 1995)
OBSERVE:
From Revelation 3, certain phrases caught my attention: ‘I know your deeds’ (vv: 1, 8, 15); ‘wake up and strengthen (v 2); ‘I have put before you an open door which no one can shut,’ (v 8); ‘kept the word of My perseverance’ (v 10), ‘you are lukewarm’ (v 16). ‘He who overcomes’ (vv 5, 12, 21) and ‘He who has an ear, let him hear’ (vv 6, 13, 22).
From Psalm 123, I see a cry of looking patiently and expectantly towards the graciousness of God, in dire circumstances.
APPLY:
I have many rooms in my life which are for various purposes: physical & mental well-being, family, finances, career, health, church, workplace and community. Revelation 3:20 is a timely reminder that my Lord is standing at each of the doors of these rooms and knocks. He wants to come in to divinely housekeep these areas, to remind me of the purpose and reason for living. He knows my deeds: where I have been lukewarm, need to be woken up and strengthened, need to keep His Word with perseverance and need to overcome. As much as He has put an open door before me, to give me direct access to His throne through His Son, Jesus Christ, I must in turn ensure that all my doors are always open for His entry, examination and divine housekeeping.
While most of my rooms are welcoming, a few sensitive ones require extra cleaning while other secretive ones may be in dire need of repair and refurbishment. I must give Him free access to all rooms, no matter the condition, so that His Grace will align all rooms to His standard of Christlikeness.
DO:
I will, regularly and daily,
- invite the Holy Spirit to inspect every room in my life;
- submit to His divine housekeeping in terms of set-up, tidiness and inventory;
- welcome His Grace to enter, thoroughly clean, repair or refurbish all my rooms, regardless of the state they are in.
PRAY:
Heavenly Father, You have granted me an open door through Your Son. May I in turn, hear and respond to Your Holy Spirit’s prompting and guidance on how I conduct myself in every room of my life. May their doors be always open to Your presence, permanently. If by any chance I have closed any door, accidentally, incidentally, consequentially or willfully, I seek your Grace to forgive me and welcome Your divine correction. I dedicate every room of my life to Your divine authority, that I may be an overcomer in the challenges that life presents to me. Amen.
