OBSERVE:
In a world full of uncertainty and volatility, life involves opportunities and risks. I should seize opportunities with faith and trust in God’s plan for my life. Whether it is about life’s decisions or my spiritual life, if I wait for conditions to be perfect, I will never take a leap of faith, take the next step, move forward, and grow. Life is fleeting and fragile, so stewarding and managing time responsibly is important. This means living a God-centred life, focused on fearing God, with a healthy respect and loyalty to Him, and keeping His commandments.
APPLY:
I have certainly embarked on a few unconventional opportunities in my life, keenly aware of the risks involved. There have been moments of fear, especially where there is uncertainty. I have found that Christ-centred decision-making involves constant prayer, seeking daily God’s voice through His Word and solitude time, and seeking godly counsel. This, in turn, requires my heart to have a posture of surrender, trusting in God’s plans, and being soft in my heart to receive counsel and constructive feedback.
Some opportunities have worked out, while others have failed. Through it all, I have seen God’s goodness. I have learnt many discipleship lessons through experiencing failures and mistakes made. Seized opportunities, particularly regarding my career choices, have resulted in further opportunities for forging life-long friendships with schoolmates and ex-colleagues. These, in turn, have opened doors to share the Gospel with those who are pre-believers.
DO:
I will continue to seek God daily. As I pray for God to open or close doors, I will truthfully examine my heart’s posture when considering opportunities and risks, to assess if taking any next steps would be God-focused.
PRAY:
Father, You have pre-determined my path in life, and yet You have given me the free will to choose and embark on opportunities as they arise. Thank You for this gift of choice. May I be refined by Your guidance, become a little wiser, and grow deeper in love with You, as I discern Your will for my life. Amen.
