BRD REFLECTIONS:

Leviticus 7,8 and Psalm 82 (NIV)

(Lucas Chow, Steward, LCEC)

READ:

Leviticus 7,8 and Psalm 82 (NIV)

OBSERVE:

Leviticus 7:2 “The guilt offering is to be slaughtered in the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered, and its blood is to be splashed against the sides of the altar.”

Leviticus 8

Blood was essential for atonement of sins, for cleansing and for consecration in Old Testament time.

Leviticus 7 listed what God commanded Moses and the Israelites to do for guilt offering, sin offering, and fellowship offering. It involved the slaughtering of animals, and the use of its blood. It also commanded portions reserved for Aaron and his sons who served as priests so that they will be provided for.

I frowned as I read the bloody ritual described in Leviticus 8. I closed my eyes and imagined how the animals were slaughtered and the blood used to consecrate, to make atonement and to ordain Arron and his sons.

I then closed my eyes to imagine how Jesus was nailed on the cross for the atonement of my sins and I cringed.

APPLY:

I am reminded how Jesus suffered horrible death on the cross as the ultimate sacrifice for me even though I did not deserve it. And by His blood I am cleansed. It is because of His sacrifice that I have hope for eternal life.

DO:

Whenever I am tempted to sin, the image of Jesus on the cross will remind me that my salvation was paid with the ultimate price. I shall not crucify Jesus all over again.

PRAY:

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank you for your ultimate sacrifice on the cross for the forgiveness of my sins. Let me not take this lightly. Help me to remember it whenever I face temptations to sin.

In your most precious name. Amen.
