Be Exalted, O God, Above The Heavens

Psalm 57:7-11 (NKJV)
My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise. Awake, my glory! Awake, lute and harp! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing to You among the nations. For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens, And Your truth unto the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let Your glory be above all the earth.
OBSERVE:
- We are creatures of the world. We live in this world and we think about this world. Everything that pertains to our life from birth to death is grounded in this world. God is not so. He is above the Earth.s As a matter of fact, God is above the Heavens.
- How we try to bring God down to our level! And how we try to bring ourselves up to God’s level! Neither is possible! Would you want a god which originates from this Earth, like those from Greek mythology? Someone who can be persuaded by whim to go one way or the other?
- Our God is above the Earth and all the Heavens. We’ll never really understand Him while trapped in these bodies of sin. We can at best see through a glass darkly. Christianity is a religion of faith: though we cannot see God as He truly is, yet in faith we know He is true. We know and sing praises to God for His mercies reach unto the heavens, and His truth unto the clouds. What a glorious God we have who leads us by His presence to where we will eventually live forever!
APPLY:
When we do not allow other things to replace God, when we fully have Him in our hearts, the Lord of life will show us the way of life. All the blessings and happiness of this world are vain. It is only by following the path of eternal life in Christ that we can obtain true happiness and eternal satisfaction.
DO:
By God’s grace, I will live above the circumstances of life as I look to God for help and guidance.
I will read the Psalms and make them my prayer, that God will work in me to change me into His likeness and align my desires with His. “You will delight in the Lord and get what your heart desires” (Psalm 37:4).
PRAY:
Oh Lord Jesus, I implore you, when I am disturbed or frightened, may your Holy Spirit remind me to take comfort in Your presence. Help my heart to confidently thank and sing praises to You , and to follow You closely in prayer.
Thank you Lord. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen!
