Reassurance

BRD REFLECTION 2026

1 Corinthians 1 and Psalm 9:1-10 (NIV)

(Janet Tan, from  Worship and Music Ministry)

READ:

Psalm 9:1-10 (NIV)

OBSERVE:

This is a Psalm where David gives thanks to God, appreciating God for all that He has done.

APPLY:

Whenever we encounter problems, we lament and question God, “Why?” From my reading of this Psalm, I observed that, instead of lamenting, David reflected upon the situation and chose to see things from a different perspective. Rather than lamenting and asking why, when we encounter hard times or feel oppressed, we should thank God for watching over us. It is a reminder of how strong my faith in Him is, and how much I trust Him. As David said in verse 10, “Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.” This is a good and timely reminder for me as I prepare to start the new year. My God will never forsake me. He knows my pain and my suffering. I have to constantly look up to Him and thank Him for moulding me through times of difficulty. Psalm 9 reassures me that, in God, I am safe. I have the assurance that, no matter what challenges I experience, God will never forsake me, even as I trust in Him.

DO:

Whenever I face difficulties, I will choose to trust in Him and be assured that He is with me.

PRAY:

Dear Lord, thank You for the reassurance again and again. Teach me to be strong in my faith and trust fully in You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
