Have I Been “Wicked”
BRD REFLECTION 2025
Isaiah 26 and Psalm 119:49-56 (NIV)
(Caleb Sim from Small Group Ministry)
READ:
Isaiah 26 and Psalm 119:49-56 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
Psalm 119 is of remembrance – remembering the Lord’s promises. Isaiah 26 is a Song of Praise – for when the Lord returns to fulfil His promises. Yet what drew my attention for both passages, was what they say about the wicked. Both passages speak of the wicked as those who disregard the Lord’s grace and commands.
APPLY:
After reading the passages, I found myself reflecting on the last time I caught myself doing something that was “wicked”. I tend to fall into this trap where waiting on the Lord or trusting the Lord is not enough, and I choose to do what is more efficient and to try to solve the issue by my own strength.
Yet I am reminded by the passages that the disregard of the Lord’s commands and His grace is considered as wicked, and that those who choose to follow in the Lord’s commands are called righteous.
DO:
Moving forward, I need to remind myself of what it is to be righteous in the eyes of the Lord. I will pray and ask God to guide me on this path. I will also ask God for forgiveness for those times where I did not wait on Him and follow Him.
PRAY:
Father in heaven, I thank You for the grace You have shown me. Help me seek what is righteous in Your eyes, so that Your name may be glorified. I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
