READ:

Ezekiel 21 and Psalm 150 (NIV)

OBSERVE:

Ezekiel 21 is a prophetic chapter where God commands the prophet Ezekiel to declare the coming judgment on Jerusalem and its leaders. Psalm 150 is the final psalm in the Book of Psalms, and it serves as a call to all creation to praise God with joy and enthusiasm. The psalm focuses entirely on the act of praising God and lists various instruments and ways in which this can be done.

Ezekiel 21 focuses on God’s judgment and the serious consequences of sin. In contrast, Psalm 150 invites joyful worship and the celebration of God’s greatness. Together, they provide a holistic view of God’s nature: His justice and sovereignty, as well as His goodness and the right response of His people in both judgment and praise.

APPLY:

While Ezekiel 21 emphasizes God’s judgment and sovereignty over nations, Psalm 150 focuses on the universal praise of God’s greatness. The link between the two is God’s sovereign power, which demands both reverence in the face of judgment and exuberant praise for His mighty deeds. I need to take God’s sovereignty seriously, live in holiness, and embrace worship as a vital part of my relationship with Him.

Ezekiel 21 conveys a warning of judgment, while Psalm 150 invites everyone to praise God. Both messages are a reminder that God’s rule extends to all, and I have a responsibility to share both His justice and His hope with others.

DO:

I need to speak more to others about God’s justice and mercy, share the gospel and encourage those around me to turn to God in repentance, while also inviting them to worship and praise Him.

PRAY:

Dear Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that You are Sovereign. I come to You in repentance for my sins. You deserve all praise for Your greatness. I pray that You will give me the strength and courage to share the Good News with more people.

I ask all this in Your precious son, Jesus’ name, Amen.
