Trust God In All Seasons
BRD REFLECTIONS:
Ezekiel 38, 39 and Psalm 11 (NIV)
(Kuah Ann Nee, SWR Committee member)
READ:
For this devotion, I will focus on Psalm 11. The phrases “In the Lord I take refuge” (v1) and “When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (v3) stand out for me most.
OBSERVE:
In this fallen world, when the righteous find no hiding place and are pursued by the wicked, I can take refuge in the Lord (v1,2). I am helpless when the foundations are being shaken and destroyed (v3) but the Lord is above all these. He is in control. I sense things changing very fast these days and sometimes in a radical manner. I feel anxious at times, fearing that my family and I may not be ready to cope with unforeseen changes. Verses 5 to 7 reassure me that God knows everything that is happening in this world. He hates the wicked with a passion and the upright will see His face. This Psalm reminds and reassures me that I can trust in the Lord ALL the time. He is always my refuge.
APPLY:
I prepared for this devotion near Pledge Sunday. I was reminded of past instances when God gave me the peace and assurance that He will pave the way and provide for my needs.
DO:
What I need to do is to trust in the Lord, fix my eyes upon Him so that anxiety and worries do not grow out of proportion. I must continue to spend time with the Lord daily. And in faith, I will trust Him and increase my pledge.
PRAY:
Heavenly Father, thank you for the reminder through this Psalm that I can trust in You in all seasons. You have always been there for me. Help me to be consistent in setting aside time to be with You. May the Holy Spirit guard my heart and mind so that I will not be given over to fear and anxiety. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
